                  Northeast Kansas Rural Business Development Program

    The Northeast Kansas Rural Business Development Region encompasses:

                         Atchison , Brown, Doniphan, Jackson , Jefferson ,

                Nemaha, Osage and Rural Shawnee Counties

GOALS: 

Enhance access to capital that provides the entrepreneurial resources for job and business creation and retention throughout the region.

Enhance and develop business support services that provide entrepreneurs with the business counseling, technical assistance and training to be successful.

Create effective leadership programs that enhance community leadership capacity to strengthen the economic and social environment in the region.

TAX CREDITS:

The Kansas Economic Growth Act of 2004 created significant opportunities for any company or individual seeking tax advantages in Kansas .  Even more important, your charitable contributions go to preserve and improve the economic vitality of communities in rural, Northeast Kansas .

The program offers a 75% Kansas State tax credit for contributors to the Northeast Kansas Rural Business Development Program.  Contributions will be used to create and expand businesses and jobs in small towns in Northeast Kansas .  The State of  Kansas has authorized a total of $1 million in state tax credits to the program.  Only private contributions will be used to fund the program.

How it works… We’re not tax experts, but here’s the concept.  Assume you are in the 34% federal income tax bracket and you donate $50,000 to this program.  You will receive $17,000 in tax savings from the federal government as well as a $37,500 tax credit from Kansas .

                           Your true “cost” is $0.00 while rural
                            communities see a $50,000 benefit
