About RDA
|
Grant writing and administration is one of the primary operations of RDA. As the community development organization for Brown and Nemaha Counties, we help communities and organizations develop funding to implement projects that otherwise would not be feasible. RDA has written, researched, and advised on many projects in the area including recreational facilities (Hiawatha Aquatic Park), communities facilities (e.g. sewer systems, fire trucks, and community buildings), housing projects (Everest Housing Authority), non-profit projects (e.g. libraries, day cares, tourism), and economic development grants (Microloan, Koch & Co, Inc.). Please Contact RDA if you would like more information on how to apply for community facilities or economic development grants. RDA has worked with many different state and federal programs including:
In addition, RDA has access to several resources and databases so that we can keep up-to-date with new grants and programs as they become available from the federal and state governments as well as private and non-profit institutions. Finally, RDA is a certified administrator for Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) through the State of Kansas. As of July 1, 2000, all administrators of Kansas CDBG grants must be certified by the Kansas Department of Commerce and Housing. Click here for a list of recently completed grant applications for the area.
Who can apply for grants? Most grants are directed toward non-profit entities serving humanitarian causes (e.g. poverty relief, day cares, youth programs, education) or local governments for projects on large facilities that are essential for the community to survive or prosper (e.g. sewer/water systems, street, fire trucks, senior housing). Rather than grants, businesses can receive Incentives from state and local governments to start or expand their businesses.
Where do grants come from? Grants can originate from any number of sources including the state and federal government, non-profit foundations, and local foundations. The "Partners/Links" button on the toolbar gives a list of various agencies that may have money for your project . But be warned, searching for grants takes much time and great diligence to find just the right fund to fit your project. Grant research can be full-time job by itself! That is why RDA helps to do the searching. We pride ourselves on being the experts of the area. This allows our citizens to save their time and money on wasteful seminars, fruitless searches, and hours upon hours of endless research. To this end, we are developing links to ongoing Grant Opportunities sites that provide Notices of Funding Availabilities (NOFAs) from various state and federal agencies as well as non-profit foundations.
Community Development Block Grants The Kansas Department of Commerce and Housing has announced the workshop schedule for the upcoming Grant rounds for fall of 2002. The KDOCH presents these workshops to advise communities of funding available, provide materials to aid Cities and Counties of Kansas applying for grants, and assist them in applying for grants and loans for their various improvement projects. A schedule of the workshops may be found on the Rural Development Association website at rdanek.com, under the events or grant services section.
